Both sides fielded much changed line-ups from their previous games, with United’s enforced due to a number of players being unavailable and Golds’ by choice after a disappointing performance last time around.

It was the visitors who took home the points at a canter with the game being effectively over after 25 minutes.

Littlehampton started by far the livelier of the two sides and took the lead with just five minutes on the clock. A quick throw found Jason Jarvis, who attempted to flick the ball over makeshift defender Dean Gilmour, only for the latter to handle and the referee rightly pointed to the spot. Mitchell Hand drove the penalty powerfully down the centre to open the scoring.

Jarvis netted the second on 21 minutes as he latched onto Liam Humphreys’ through ball down the right and bore down on goal completely unchallenged.

Littlehampton sealed the points in the 24th minute with a terrific strike from Shay Wiggans, who found the top corner from 20 yards after the ball was only half-cleared.
