Five-star Rye crush Chichester

Rye United continued their Sussex County Football League title bid with a 5-0 win at home to Chichester City.

Alfie Weller, pictured, struck twice on his first senior start, Wes Tate also bagged a brace and Matt Maclean scored the other as Rye brushed aside the bottom club in Division One on Saturday.

Rye remain six points clear of second-placed Lancing having played an extra game and 14 ahead of fifth-placed Three Bridges having played six more matches.

Westfield picked up a creditable 1-1 draw away to Littlehampton Town in Division Two thanks to a second half equaliser from David Pugh. Westfield are one point and two places above the bottom two.

Hastings United won 3-0 at home to Sidley United in a friendly courtesy of strikes by Lee Carey (2) and Joe Barham. Charlton Athletic duo Bradley Goldberg and Jamal Willer were introduced as half time substitutes.
