The Sussex County Football League Division One fixture has been called-off for a third time (the first was way back on Boxing Day) because of a waterlogged pitch at The Salts.

The postponement is bad news all round because both clubs, but Rye in particular, are already facing hectic schedules to complete their matches following one of the worst winters for many years.

Quite when and even where the match will take place remains to be seen. Both clubs have to vacate their grounds in the next 10 days or so because of the upcoming cricket season, and Rye already have games scheduled for Saturday, Tuesday, next Thursday and the following Saturday.

Hastings United’s fixture at home to Harrow Borough in the Ryman Football League Premier Division, meanwhile, is subject to a 3pm pitch inspection. News of the outcome of that inspection will follow in due course.
