The former Leeds United and Plymouth Argyle midfielder has a year left to run on his contract at Reds.

He made 39 appearances at the League Two club last season and scored four goals having penned a two-year deal in the summer, having arrived from Stevenage.

However, head coach Drummy has told the 28-year-old he can leave if he finds a new club.

Drummy said: “I spoke to Simon and your are not in my plans, not in a rude way and he said, ‘thank-your for your honesty’.

“If Simon can find another club then I can give him that option. If he is here, then he is here, he is on a contract, but he wasn’t actually in my plans.

“I sat him down and was very straight with him.”
