Former YM boss John Suter appointed Steyning Town manager

Suter joins with a wealth of local football experience, most notably with Horsham YMCA, who he guided into the Ryman League after winning Division One of the County League.

He is extremely well known and respected locally having managed a vast number of County League clubs, and is joined by Ryan Andrews who has been named the new assistant manager.

Andrews was a player under Suter at Horsham and had a successful playing career with spells at Crawley, Horsham, YM and Broadbridge Heath.

The pair now face the task of building on the recent success of previous management duo Richard Whittingham and Tom Gurney, who left to take over first team duties at Lancing.

A club statement read: “We are thrilled to get both John and Ryan on board. Their knowledge of football, and local football in particular is second to none.

“With their extensive experience we are convinced they are the right people to move this club forward through developing local young talent at the club, as well as attracting the right calibre of players to help make Steyning a force in this division.”

Last term Steyning finished tenth in Division Two, their best season for some years.

Adam Kipling will continue in his role as head coach, with Malcolm Metcalf staying on as first team coach alongside Suter and Andrews.
