Four-star Common crush Bexhill

Little Common claimed local bragging rights with a 4-0 win at home to Bexhill United on Easter Monday.

It was a mirror image of the score in the reverse fixture at Christmas and salvaged some pride for Common from a disappointing Sussex Division Two season.

Jamie Crone hit the post for Common, but Bexhill had more of the chances until Casey Ham and Lewis Hole struck in the space of five minutes late in the first half.

Bexhill never looked like getting back into it after that and Chas Lister made it three in the 69th minute. Jordan Wood rounded things off in the fourth minute of added time

Elsewhere on the same day, Rye United gained a measure of revenge for their John O’Hara League Cup final defeat to Three Bridges on Good Friday.

The Quarterboys won 2-1 away to their Crawley-based rivals in Division One of the league thanks to a brace of goals from midfielder Jack Dixon.

Westfield lost 4-2 away to Seaford Town in Division Two. Peter Baker gave them a third minute lead, but they were 2-1 down at the end of an action-packed first half.

Tom Archer made it 2-2 with a 60th minute header and Westfield started to look the better side before conceding in the 85th and 89th minutes.

Full reports on each of these matches will appear in Friday’s Observers along with more pictures of the Common versus Bexhill game.
