Lewes fans willing to make the trip up to Essex tomorrow will be able to watch the Rooks for free.
The club’s opponents, Concord Rangers, have announced on their website that visitors to their final home game of the season will be able to gain free entry. In return the Canvey Island-based outfit will be hoping fans will instead make a donation to the club’s chosed charity The Indee Rose Trust.
The message posted on the club’s website reads as follows: “Our final home game this week v Lewes will be free entry but with all donations given going to the clubs chosen charity The Indee Rose Trust.”
In what is Lewes’ last away game of the season (before hosting Harrow Borough in the last game of the season the week after), Simon Wormull’s men will be looking for a vital win to keep their noses in front of fellow play-off hunters Wealdstone, Hendon, Canvey Island and Cray Wanderers.
Lewes currently occupy the fourth and final play-off berth with 67 points from 40 games. But with Wealdstone on 66 points but only 39 games played – and Cray on 63 points with also only 39 played – the Rooks realistically need to win both their remaining games to have a hope of getting into the end of season promotion play-offs.
Hendon and Canvey Island are both on 40 games played but have one and two points fewer than Lewes respectively.
Therefore Wormull and his troops will appreciate all the vocal help they can get from travelling fans.
So if you’ve got tomorrow free and fancied taking in the Rooks’ crucial encounter, and like the idea of giving to a good cause instead of paying for entry, then why not take the trip up to Canvey Island.
According to AA Route Planner the journey should take less than one and three quarter hours. For those with satnav the address of the ground is: Thames Road, Canvey Island, Essex. SS8 OHH.
