Lewes manager Darren Freeman offered no excuses after last Saturday’s poor performance at Staines Town.

The 3-0 defeat left the Rooks rock bottom of the Ryman Premier League table with just seven points from 22 matches.

They are six points adrift of VCD Athletic who are just above them and nine points from third from bottom side Farnborough who have two games in hand on Lewes.

Freeman is demanding a dramatic improvement from his struggling players for tomorrow’s trip to 11th placed East Thurrock.

Freeman said: “We need to get back on the training field and we need to work hard. We all need to rally round and get on with it, there are no excuses. We go to training and we train hard. Everything is in the right place but, two or three players didn’t turn up (against Staines) and we got beat by what, for me, were not a great side and that’s disappointing.

“I still 100 per cent think we can get out of this. It is not going to be easy but we need to get some results, we all know
