Lewes manager Darren Freeman will have to lift his side for their Boxing Day Sussex Derby at Bognor Regis.
Despite competing well against a solid Enfield outfit at the Dripping Pan on Tuesday night, Lewes went down 2-0. The loss leaves Lewes bottom of the table on 11 points from 26 games, eight points adrift of second from bottom club VCD Athletic.
Manager Darren Freeman said, “It was so disappointing and so frustrating because we competed and for most part played well against a very good side.
“We just lost it in the last 10 minutes and that’s not the first time it has happened this season. But we have to work hard to put things right we are not far off but we have to find a way of getting over the line and turning good performances into points.”
Bognor are eighth in the table and last time out they were beaten 2-0 by title chasing Billericay Town.
Freeman added: “It’s a huge game for us and really we have to go to Bognor and win. It’s important for our morale to show we are still fighting. No-one gets relegated at Christmas, we know we have ground to make up but we can start to do that at Bognor. We can compete with the top teams and it’s important we show that a Bognor.”
Lewes are next at the Dripping Pan on Saturday, January 2 as they welcome Merstham.
