Game on at The Pilot Field

Hastings United’s game at home to Leiston today (Saturday) is expected to go ahead.

The Pilot Field pitch passed an 8.30am inspection so the Ryman Football League Premier Division match should be on unless there is significant rainfall prior to the 3pm kick-off.

United groundsman Simon Rudkins wrote on social network site Twitter: “The pitch has passed an early inspection so at the moment provided no further rain @hastingsufc vs @leistonfc is on.”

The news will come as a massive relief to a United side which is facing a major fixture pile-up after having its last two games postponed. In fact, player-manager Sean Ray has this week urged the league to extend the season by a week to help clubs complete their matches.

Elsewhere today, Sidley United’s game at home to Lancing in Sussex County Football League Division One is subject to a 10am inspection and Bexhill United’s visit from Sussex Division Two leaders Newhaven requires a 9.30am inspection.
