Glenn Murray insists Brighton won't get carried away after wins over West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves

Murray had a dream day on Saturday when he scored his 100th Albion goal in the 1-0 win over Wolves, just a week after he was stretchered off with a head injury at Newcastle.

Brighton sit 11th in the Premier League table after ten games and are already nine points clear of the bottom three but Murray insists the main goal remains to stay up.

He said: “We keep our goal the same and that’s to stay up. As soon as we’ve achieved that we may look at something else but it’s all about establishing ourselves as a Premier League club still. It’s easy to get carried away with three victories out of three but this group won’t be getting carried away.

“We’ll be trying to get to our first goal which is staying in the Premier League and establishing ourselves as a Premier League club.”

Albion travel to Everton tomorrow looking to equal a club record of four successive top-flight wins, which they last achieved in 1981.

Murray feels the Seagulls’ upturn in form has come from going back to basics and said: “A lot of people questioned us with our start but we sit down as a group and team and look at the up and coming fixtures.

“We knew we were in for a tough start. We took the pressure off ourselves against Manchester United at home but we’re not really meant to get anything out of the Man United, Liverpool and Man City games, even though we go into them trying to get points.

“We earmarked the West Ham game and luckily got three points. It set us off on a good foot to beat a relegation candidate (Newcastle) last weekend and we got another big three points today (against Wolves).

“We’ve gone back to last year’s basics – which we struggled to at the start of this year – which is keeping clean sheets.

"We always know if we keep the back door closed that we back ourselves to take one or two chances.”
