The draw means Littlehampton and Eastbourne United have identical records at the top of the table having both won ten, drawn two and lost two of their opening 14 league matches.

It was the visitors who began the brighter and nearly went ahead on five minutes, but Dan Attwater saw his shot saved by Michael Morris in the Golds goal. Littlehampton were slow to get into the game, but they did nearly take the lead on 17 minutes when a Liam Humphreys shot flashed across the face of goal.

The visitors responded well to that shot and took the lead just three minutes after, when Rob Godfrey played in Ollie Moore who made no mistake with his right-foot finish.

Littlehampton were not behind for long as Lee Garnham’s long free-kick evaded everyone and found the bottom corner of the net on 24 minutes.

It was three just four minutes later as a Morris clearance fell straight to Moore and he slammed home his second of the match.

Littlehampton went in search of a goal to halve the deficit and they managed to strike on 66 minutes through Clack.

The visitors were still looking dangerous and nearly made it 4-2 but Jamal Sultan’s curling effort went just wide of the goal.
