Golds dump Ryman Premier side Horsham out of Sussex Senior Cup

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club dumped Ryman League Premier Division side Horsham out of the Sussex Senior Cup with a 2-1 victory at The Sportsfield last night (Tuesday).

Golds pulled off a fantastic scalp thanks to Danny Hand’s two spot kicks, one coming in either half, after Horsham had pulled level through a penalty of their own, to send Littlehampton into the quarter-finals.

Three divisions and 48 places in the football pyramid that separate the two sides and lowly Golds, when compared to their counterparts, poured yet more misery on struggling Horsham’s season.

Littlehampton boss Mark Bennett said: “Tonight the lads were great and it was all down to them, rather than me. They are only a young side, the oldest out there was 24, so it’s a great achievement for them.”
