Littlehampton remain second in the table after the draw, they trail league leaders Dorking Wanderers by a point, though, they do have a game in hand.

Golds boss Mark Bennett felt the draw was a fair result and said: “If I’m honest we probably did not deserve the victory.

“St.Francis were the better side in the first half and took the lead twice. We came back twice, though, which shows the great character that we have.

“Joe Shelley then put us ahead ten minutes from the end and we should have gone onto win.

“But we have struggled defensively all year and they got a late leveller.

“I still feel that there a number of twists and turns to come in the run-in.”

Saunders fired the home side ahead on 12 minutes, before Dave Herbert levelled 23 minutes later.

St.Francis went ahead for a second time in the contest when Josh Perry netted on 53 minutes.

The Golds responded well, though, and George Landais made it 2-2 13 minutes later.

Joe Shelley thought he had secured all three points for Golds when he struck ten minutes from time.

However, Saunders denied Littlehampton the chance to go top with his second of the contest late on.
