With the weather conditions testing most pitches locally Hill travelled into Essex to take on Gray’s who have visions of promotion.

On a difficult pitch and against a strong wind Hill started brightly and with only eight minutes on the clock Chris Smith put Pat Harding through but home keeper Lamar Joseph-Johnson saves with his legs.

Gray’s went close on ten minutes when Jay leader rose in the box from a corner but his powerful header was blocked by Will Miles for another corner.

Both teams were seeing plenty of the ball but chances were few and far between and it wasn’t until the twenty sixth minute that the next chance came along and it could of seen Josh James in the Hill goal left red faced when a free kick was floated into the box and the sun seemed to blind James and the ball went just inches wide of the far post this wasn’t the on slice of luck that Gray’s had and the on thirty minutes Gray’s broke down the right and Alex Addai crossed to Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson who miss hit his shot and it looped over the helpless James to give Gray’s the lead.

The second half saw Hill have the wind in their favour and they immediately put Gray’s under pressure and just two minutes after the restart Pat Harding should of done better when he was set up by Chris Smith but his shot went well over from the edge of the box.

Gray’s had a chance on fifty four minutes but Josh denied Tomlinson by saving at his feet.

Ian Chapman made his first change on 57 minutes when Ollie Rowland was replaced by Sam Gargan and on soon after this change Hill had a great chance to level when Scott Kirkwood hit a shot from outside the box and home keeper Johnson could only palm the ball out and the lively Smith reacted first but his shot was somehow blocked by Johnson’s legs.

Pat Harding found the ball fall kindly to him just outside the box but his volley went just wide of the far post. Sam Gargan was causing the home defence some problems and he set up Smith when he flicked the ball on but his shot was straight at Johnson.

Hill made their second change on seventy five minutes when Pat Harding was replaced by Phil Johnson but just minutes later Hill conceded a second when Dumebi GB-Dumaka met a curling freekick with a powerful header that left James in goal helpless.

Hill’s last change was made with only five minutes left when Lee Harding was replaced by Elliott Levy and he was the player to have the last chance of the game when Gargan set him up in the box but his effort was straight at home keeper Johnson.

Hill can take a lot of credit from this fixture as they caused a good side a lot of problems.
