Rye United pulled off a splendid 1-0 win away to Pagham and Sidley United thumped Worthing United 6-1 in Division One, while Little Common also prevailed 6-1 against local rivals Westfield in Division Two.

Olly Lockyer’s third goal in as many matches shortly before the hour made Rye’s long trip to Pagham worthwhile and put them within two points of their sixth-placed victims with two games in hand.

Sidley moved seven points clear of the three relegation places on the back of a second successive victory. Goals from Dan Cruikshank and Matt Darby put the Blues two-up at half time against bottom-of-the-table opposition before Andy Hales and Terry Payne bagged two apiece after the break.

Common emphatically ended a run of four defeats in five outings and at the same time avenged a recent Hastings & District FA Senior Cup semi-final defeat to a Westfield side which arrived at The Recreation Ground having won three in a row.

A Zack McEniry brace and one from Lewis Hole put Common three-up at half time. Dominic Cruttenden added a fourth early in the second period and although Lawrence Brand pulled one back, further goals from Hole and Adam Smith capped a great night for Common.

See Friday’s Observers for full reports on all of these matches.
