Swedish youngster Gyokeres came on for the final 18 minutes and had a shot pushed behind by Baggies keeper Jonathan Bond after a bright run.

It was the 20-year-old's third appearance for Brighton's first team and afterwards he said: "It felt good. Firstly I wanted to win the game especially when I came on I felt we had a lot of chances.

"I wanted to make something good of it. I think we deserved the win but it is how it is. Hopefully we can win the next game.

"I'm quite pleased (with the performance) but if we won the game I would be more pleased."

Gyokeres is now targeting more minutes in Brighton's first team for the rest of the season and looking at his campaign so far, he said: "It's been good. I've played mostly with the under-23s and then I've been on the bench for the first team some games."
