Goals from Danny Leach and Andy Whittingham saw Hailsham Town pick up a 2-0 win away at Lanncing
Hailsham boss Andy Goodchild said: “I went to watch Lancing v East Grinstead last week so we were well prepared and I thought our tactics were spot on. The “Culver carpet” is certainly a lovely surface to play on and suited our passing play. Danny Leach had started getting in behind them and whilst he scored he could have had a hatrick before he came off injured.
“I only hope he is able to recover for the big games away to Shoreham & Rye this week. Again the backline were very solid today with another shutout.
“I thought Michael Brown has been a revelation in the last two games and has made a real difference to us not conceding. I certainly had the strongest bench of the season and when a player of the quality of Michael Lloyd is an unused sub it says it all in the strength we have got in the current squad.
“I thought the officials today were top notch and didn’t put a foot wrong. It makes such a difference to the enjoyment of the game for all when you get decent officials.
“I am delighted to have had the run of 4 back to back wins for both the boys and the supporters. Hailsham is a great club with strong community support and fans have been very patient & understanding while I have been rebuilding the team from scratch to an acceptable level. I hope our rich vein of form can continue.
“This week is a strange one, as with Lancing’s 6 point deduction we play 4th, 5th and 6th from bottom within 5 days. This is a somewhat unique position with three 6 pointers in quick succession.
“Two midweek away games in a row is not helpful especially with the Rye Thursday fixture coming with only one weeks notice. With up to six games in hand over teams in the bottom half of the table I am confident we can keep the momentum going to pull clear.”
