Hailsham Town went down 3-1 despite a spirited performance to defending Champions East Preston.
Hailsham took the lead after a decent opening spell thanks to Sam Weigand’s pinpoint header on 14, but would be pegged back 4 minutes later when a cross was turned in from close range.
Sam Divall was next closest for Hailsham following a quick counter, before Levett made a good save from a free kick and Baitup hit the bar for the visitors. After the break EP began brightly and took the lead on 55 with a fine low finish, before Sam Divall was harshly sent off for a second yellow as tempers frayed following some debatable decisions. The visitors wrapped up the win late on with a third, but The Stringers can take credit from a battling performance against one of the sides to beat in County One.
Next up Hailsham travel to Eastbourne Town on Tuesday night, ahead of the trip to Eastbourne United in the FA Cup next Saturday.
