Hard work sees Chichester reap Easter rewards

Under-18 player Jimmy Wild – who has come into City’s senior side only in the past few matches – came off the bench to strike the winning goal in their 2-1 triumph over Broadbridge Heath on Saturday.

After a goalless first-half, Tiago Andrade gave Heath the lead before Michael Frangou equalised for City. Wild’s 78th-minute header proved to be decisive and gave Chichester only a second success in their past eight matches.

City had to work hard at Arundel on Easter Monday to grind out a 0-0 draw. In a nondescript game, the Mullets put in marginally the better performance but neither side was creative on a difficult, bobbly pitch.

The home supporters were screaming for what they thought was a clear-cut penalty 15 minutes from the finish, but the referee gave a corner instead.

In the closing moments Arundel should have snatched victory when an inviting cross fell perfectly for Rory Biggs, but he missed a sitter and Scott Tipper somehow missed the rebound.

They host Shoreham this Saturday.
