Harding hat-trick sinks Rebels

WORTHING Football Club suffered a 4-1 defeat away to Burgess Hill in Ryman League South Division on Boxing Day.

The hosts led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Pat Harding and ex-Rebel Scott Kirkwood.

Harding got the third ten minutes into the second half, before he completed his hat-trick on 64 minutes.

Will Berry got a consolation goal for Worthing on 69 minutes.

A number of other matches in the division were postponed owing to waterlogged pitches.

Just five games went ahead in the Sussex County League as a number of waterlogged pitches caused postponements.

In Division 1, Dorking Wanderers beat Horsham YMCA 2-0, East Grinstead defeated Lingfield 1-0 and Selsey overcame Pagham 2-0.

In Division 2, Rustington lost 3-1 at home to Wick & Barnham and Bexhill defeated Little Common 5-1.
