Hastings handed away tie in FA Cup

Hastings United were handed an away tie against lower grade opposition in today's (Friday's) FA Cup draw.

The U’s will travel to Southwick or Cray Valley (PM) in the preliminary round on Saturday August 20.

United finished seventh in Ryman Football League Division One South last season, while Cray Valley came 10th in the Southern Counties East League Premier Division and Southwick were fifth in Southern Combination League Division One.

Hastings were away to Cray Valley at the same stage of last season’s competition, and goals from Sean Ray (2) and Jerome Smith clinched a 3-0 victory.

United will also be on their travels in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy. They will head to league rivals Ramsgate on Saturday October 8 for the right to host Aylesbury United or Chatham Town in first round qualifying three weeks later.

In the FA Youth Cup, United were handed a first round qualifying trip to Erith & Belvedere or Ramsgate. That match will take place in the week commencing Monday September 19.

Bexhill United and Little Common, meanwhile, received home ties in FA Vase first round qualifying on Saturday September 10.

Common will face Erith Town in their first ever home FA Vase clash, while Bexhill have been drawn at home to Holmesdale but alternative arrangements will have to be made as their ground at The Polegrove is being used for Bexhill Cricket Club’s much-anticipated game against the Lashings All-Stars that day.
