United had to make do with a 1-1 draw away to Ramsgate, but remain fifth in Ryman Football League Division One South after a mixed set of results for the teams around them.

Corinthian-Casuals jumped above United to fourth courtesy of a fine 2-0 win at home to second-placed Dorking Wanderers, while Carshalton Athletic dropped below United to sixth after losing 3-1 at home to third-placed Greenwich Borough.

Lewes are up to seventh - with the same number of points as United and Carshalton - on the back of a 1-0 victory at home to a Hythe Town side which is just a point adrift of United in eighth.

After back-to-back draws against Chatham Town last weekend and Hythe on Tuesday, United would’ve been keen to rediscover the winning formula against a Ramsgate team lying just below halfway in the table.

And after a scoreless first half, United - who gave a debut to Charlie Harris in place of injured captain Simon Johnson in midfield - drew first blood in the third minute of the second period. Leading scorer Frannie Collin converted a penalty awarded for handball.

But Ramsgate - the last team to beat United - equalised in the 71st minute with a spot-kick of their own. Aaron Millbank made no mistake from 12 yards after Jerrome Sobers was penalised.
