The U’s were hoping to find out at some point today (Thursday) if their efforts to sign a player from Queens Park Rangers were successful.

Speaking yesterday morning, United player-manager Sean Ray said: “We’re hoping to have someone from QPR coming in. We’re waiting to find out today. It’s a player that can play in a couple of positions and I’m really hopeful.”

Ray has moved for the player after discovering that left-back Rory Murphy is away for two weeks in America, but Bailo Camara and Danny Ellis should return for the trip to Bury Town on Saturday.

Matt Cruttwell is set to continue in goal with Matt Armstrong-Ford expected to make his comeback after nearly three months out with a knee injury in the reserves, where he is due to be joined by Jack Dixon.

United are hoping to welcome back leading scorer Bradley Goldberg in a week’s time, while Ray will return from a four-match suspension at Kingstonian on Monday night.

The U’s remain in the Ryman Football League Premier Division’s final safe spot of third-from-bottom and are two points above second-from-bottom Thurrock having played three more matches.
