The U’s followed up their 3-0 victory away to Cray Valley Paper Mills in the FA Cup on Saturday with a 2-0 success away to Walton Casuals in Ryman Football League Division One South this afternoon (Monday).

Both the goals came during the final half-an-hour of a match played at Merstham FC. Sam Cole opened the scoring in the 64th minute with a fine left-foot finish after Zac Attwood held up a long ball and played it into his path.

Ollie Rowe made sure of the points in the first minute of added time with his first goal since returning to the club. The defender headed home another excellent corner from Sam Adams.

United certainly didn’t have things all their own way, though. Walton made a bright start to the match and United needed a goal-line clearance from Sean Ray to keep the scoresheet blank before the U’s imposed themselves far more as the first half wore on.

Walton - who have picked up just three points from their opening six games - pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages of the second half, but it was United who grabbed the killer second goal to make it 12 points from a possible 18 so far.

United: Pelling, Crabb, Smith, Rowe, Ray, Walder, Adams, Vickers, Attwood, Harris, Cole. Subs: Hollobone, Hall, Temba, Richardson-Brown, Rose.
