Hastings/Rye games off

Today’s football matches involving Hastings United and Rye United have already been postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Hastings were due to make the long trip to Lowestoft Town in the Ryman Football League Premier Division and will now doubtless have to visit the Suffolk coast in midweek at some stage.

Rye were scheduled to host Chichester City in Sussex County League Division One. Rye received some good news yesterday, though, as they were reinstated in the FA Vase.

Although Rye lost 1-0 away to Amersham Town in round two last weekend, their subsequent complaint to the FA regarding the Amersham team was successful.

The Buckinghamshire club was removed from the national competition and Rye will host South Park in round three on Saturday December 8.

Pitch inspections are also due to take place for Sidley United’s visit from Sussex County League leaders East Preston, Westfield’s trip to Loxwood in Sussex Division Two and Bexhill United’s Sussex RUR Charity Cup third round tie away to Broadbridge Heath.

And with rain forecast throughout the day, prospects of play aren’t looking good. Further updates will appear in due course.
