Hat-trick for goal ace Pugh

David Pugh scooped a hat-trick of awards at Westfield Football Club’s season-ending presentation on Saturday.

The 25-year-old striker received the first team players’ player and supporters’ player accolades, as well as the club goalscoring award at the Crown House, St Leonards.

Pugh was the second highest scorer in Division Two of the Sussex County Football League with 31 league goals and 32 in all competitions even though it was his first season at senior level.

Other members of a first team squad which is heading to Bournemouth this weekend for the now traditional end of campaign festivities to pick up gongs included Martin Brain, Matt Cruttwell and Ashley Paine.

The front side finished 10th in Division Two, while the seconds came ninth in Reserve Section (East) and clinched the Robertsbridge Charity Intermediate Cup with a 2-1 win over St Leonards Social on Wednesday, last week.

In other news, Westfield are hoping to create some pay boxes at either end of their Parish Field ground and a path behind one of the goals during the summer months.

The full list of winners will appear in Friday’s Hastings Observer.
