Heath Reserves secure first ever promotion to the Premier Division

Broadbridge Heath Reserves travelled to Clymping knowing victory would ensure promotion to the Reserve Premier Division for the first time in the club’s history.

An early strike from top-scorer Greg Clark gave Heath the lead, but five minutes later the hosts top-scorer John Lawson levelled.

Some good work from Chris Copestake enabled Heath to restore the lead on 25 minutes as Jack Petersen scored from close range.

After playing some great football in the first half, Tom Whiting crucially scored two goals in three second half minutes, the first from an assist by the outstanding Hugh Lawrence.

Clark scored his 16th of the season on 68 minutes, before Mike Brownlee completed the scoring with a right foot shot from 20 yards four minutes later as Heath ran out 6-1 winners.

The victory was Heath’s 14th win on the trot and Mick Robinson’s side now need one point from their remaining two games to win the title. On Monday April 28 they play Haywards Heath Town Reserves in the semi-final of the Reserve Section Cup.

BBH: Smith, Lawrence, Mulcahy (Slater 67), Bates, Maxted, Bacon, Whiting (Sandhu 72), Petersen, Clark (Robinson 72), Brownlee, Copestake.
