Heath’s Aston and Holmes are at it again in Wick win

The deadly duo of Damon Aston and Jake Holmes were at it again for Broadbridge Heath, as three goals in 15 first half minutes earned a comfortable victory over Wick.

The visitors leading scorer Michale Frangou missed a clear early chance before Holmes gave Heath a 32nd minute lead, cooly converting Jamal Sultan’s cross.

Seven minutes later a Grant Miller corner was headed back across goal by Andy Waddingham and Aston nodded home, and before half time it was three, Noel Etherington combining with Holmes well before slotting under the keeper.

Miller rattled the crossbar in a lower key second half but the win sets Heath up nicely for their cup semi-final against Crowborough Athletic.

Boss Steve Painter said: “We were determined not to repeat ourselves against Wick, when we dominated the game down there and lost 1-0. Damon has been excellent since coming in and Jake Holmes has been superb for us all season, they’ve got a real understanding which should only get better.”

BBH: Fisher, Etherington, Godfrey, Waddingham (Attwater 68), Flack, Miller, Arthur, Drinkwater (Swaine 60), Holmes (Martin 68), Aston, Sultan.
