The Hornets have struggled in front of goal in recent weeks.

Since the 3-0 home win over rivals Lewes on New Year’s Day, Horsham have scored six goals in five games.

And Di Paola is of the view that the Hornets don’t take ‘chances when they get them’ or ‘create enough’.

Horsham’s tally of 44 goals in 27 league games is the joint third-lowest in the top ten of the BetVictor Premier Division and the joint lowest in the top six.

The sixth-placed Hornets share the same goals scored record with place-above Carshalton Athletic.

Only ninth-placed East Thurrock United (43) and tenth-placed Leatherhead (37) have found the back of the net fewer times than Horsham.

By comparison, top-of-the-table Worthing have bludgeoned 63 goals in 28 games.

Sussex rivals Bognor Regis Town, who are a point and a place behind the Hornets, have hit 52 in 27 games.

Di Paola revealed he had put his players through shooting drills at training ‘for probably a month’.

But the Hornets boss now wants his charges to ‘execute’ their training in games.

He said: “We’ve got a problem that we’ve had throughout the whole season where we don’t score our chances when we get them, and we don’t create enough.

“If you look at our defensive record it’s as good as anyone’s but our goals scored is well down the table.

“We’ve worked on it at literally every training session for probably a month.

“It’s just been finishing and shooting sessions but you’ve got to execute it in games.

“I can’t blame our boys.

“They’re doing they’re best but the fact of the matter is we’ve not scored enough goals this year.”
