Horsham boss says they are '˜desperate' to have new home approved

Horsham District Council’s planning committed will decided on the future of the club and their plans for a ground off Worthing Road on former Horsham Golf & Fitness land.

The club have been without a home since 2008 when they left Queen Street and have had two subsequent applications turned down at the Holbrook Club and Worthing Road.

As part of this new joint application, 58 home will also be built at the Holbrook Club, both proposals have been recommended for approval by the council’s planning officers.

Having been forced to ground share at Horsham YMCA’s Gorings Mead ground since 2009, the Hornets will also have to seek a new temporary home at the end of the season with that agreement ending in May.

The club also had to fold their under-18 side last year and have no reserve team due to their current homeless state.

First team boss Di Paola says that is having a damaging effect on the Ryman League South Division club.

He revealed: “We are desperate from the club’s point of view because until we get the ground we are just floating.

“We haven’t a youth team, we haven’t got a full youth section. It’s very hard for us, we have to keep signing players because you can’t develop players.”
