We might still be in November, but Little Common striker Lewis Hole has already bagged 20 goals for the season.

Hole’s four-goal salvo in the 6-2 thrashing of Storrington last weekend has taken him five clear at the top of the Sussex County Football League Division Two scoring charts with 17 league strikes.

Common player-manager Russell Eldridge said: “Lewis is the first one to tell me how many goals he’s got and if I’m out by one he soon tells me that he’s on 20.

“That’s the quality that he possesses. We know that if we find him in the right areas, he will put the ball in the back of the net. He sets his

standards and targets very high, and I know that come the end of the season he will want to be top of that league. He’s given himself the best opportunity.”

Common will reach the midway point in their league programme with a visit from neighbours Westfield tomorrow (Saturday). Common were 4-1 winners in August’s reverse fixture.

“You always know you’re going to have a tough game against Westfield,” added Eldridge. “We know they’ll be in our faces and won’t give us much time on the ball. We need to be a little bit more consistent.”

Sam Brown and Sam Cruttwell should return, but Josh Elliott-Noye and Jerome Smith are still out.
