The club, like many have struggled financially since the lockdown. They have received some grants from central Government and Sport England which have been used to renovate the pitch and helped to cover ongoing expenses. You can watch the campaign video below

But now they are looking to repair and renovate the floodlights at the ground.

John Rattle, BHTFC Director, said: “This is the clubs first ever Crowdfunder Campaign and we need our fantastic supporters and the local community to give us some help to raise funds for vital renovations to our ageing floodlights.

“We’d hoped to have done this ourselves, but with the season ending has it did with the COVID 19 pandemic, we lost vital revenue from home games, end of season tournaments and functions at the club that would have provided the revenue to do this.

“We have received some financial assistance from a central Government grant and Sport England to help us be ready for football whenever it returns - but this work needs to be done.

“By working with Crowdfunder we are asking people or local businesses to donate monies but we are offering some great rewards for your donations to suit all budgets.”

The club are looking to raise £10,000 and hope to emulate the success of other Sussex clubs such as Crawley Town, Worthing,Bognor Regis Town and Lewes, who have all run similar Crowdfunder projects.

But Rattle wants the campaign to help raise the profile of the club as well.

He said: “I want the campaign to also raise awareness of the club and it’s value to the local community.

“We now have a thriving junior section and we are expanding the women’s football at the club too. By helping us in our campaign more people will see what is happening at the club.

“This isn’t just about what happens on a Saturday afternoon, this is about providing football for all ages to a thriving town. We want every person/business to be proud of their non league local football club.”

The Goal Burgess Hill Town’s target is to raise £10,000, which will enable them to replace all of the lights and cover all the costs involved to secure the lights for years to come.

How can you help? To stimulate their fundraising efforts the Hillians have now teamed up with Crowdfunder and worked with their team to put together a line-up of rewards to try to give something in return for your invaluable support.

The club said: “You can of course simply make a donation, without reward, if that’s what you’d prefer – it’s totally up to you.
