"Overall I thought we were a little bit nervy first half but we were a lot better in the second half.

"Even before the goal and the sending off, I thought we had control of the match. We got our rhythm back, our confidence returned and they were great signs for us in that second half.

"First half, I thought we were indebted to our goalkeeper who made some really important saves for us.

"Brighton did well in that opening period, so I'm pleased to come through the match."

"When the pressure is really on, it's about how you're going to respond and the recent run we've been on has been tough.

"At 1-0 the game is still very much in the balance but the players stood firm and produced a very good display.

"Hopefully that sets us up well for the Christmas period. We've got two tough games but hopefully two tough games we can attack."

David Brooks' performance

"They're two very good goals from David, both totally different, and I'm very pleased.

"He showed his quality in both moments.

"He's certainly ahead of schedule. We've been pleasantly surprised.

"We knew we were getting a very technical player, a very intelligent player. Perhaps what we didn't know was how good he would be for the team.

"He really buys into the team ethic, the defensive component of the game and the tactical understanding of how we play he has grasped really quickly.

"Credit to him for that and also the ability to handle the Premier League and not get carried away with his early season success."
