Goals from Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek secured a comfortable win for the Blues as the Seagulls struggled to get going on the night.

Hughton said: "The second and third goal showed the quality that they've got and what they can do.

"The first goal was the one I was most disappointed with because that's the areas we defend quite well.

"When you've got that ability to get wide and get crosses in, you can't stop every cross.

"Once it comes in I felt we should have dealt with it better and that is something I know we can do quite well.

"That was probably my biggest disappointment along with the timing as well.

"It gave them the lift that they needed. It became a hard night for us because of the quality they've got.

"The quality to make decisions and try and press when you've got that quality in tight areas showed in their second and third goals."
