Roberts was first team manager last season but has been at the SCFL Division 1 club for four years. The Stringers have lost their opening three league games this season.

The club released this statement: "Hailsham Town FC regret to confirm that we have accepted the resignation of manager Kevin Roberts. Kevin has been with the club for four years, and in that time has led the Under 21's to two Cup Finals, winning the MIND Sussex Charity Cup in 2018/19, and for the last season has also managed the first team.

"His commitment to the club has been above and beyond expectations and his positive attitude and good humour will be missed. All at the club would like to thank Kevin for his dedication and wish him and his family well for the future."

Roberts said: "It's with deep regret that I have today resigned my position as manager at the club. This decision has not been one that I've made lightly and whilst the details of reason itself will be kept private, I believe that currently I cannot continue to give the club the time, dedication and passion that it rightfully needs to continue to build on all the hard work that has already been done.

"I have loved every minute of my four years with the club and honestly thank all the players, staff, supporters and committee members that I have met and worked with for all your hard work and support over the years. The club has come on leaps and bounds in the time I've been there and I have full faith it will continue to grow. When I came into the front side the club asked for young home grown players to be given a chance to shine, during that time we have given first team debuts to 20+ players under the age of 21 and I know that there are more to come as well.

"It's certainly not going to be goodbye from me but definitely a 'see you a bit later' a bit further down the line."

The club committee will be meeting to discuss the managerial situation shortly, and further information will follow in due course.
