The club stalwart and former director has hailed the ‘well deserved’ decision of a new ground to finally be approved off Worthing Road.

King has also singled out chairman Kevin Borrett, chief executive John Lines and finance director Mark Butler for their tireless
work over the past decades.

He said: “I was worried I wasn’t going to see the result of this for the longer it went on. Now we have to make sure we get this ground right.

“It’s great news, the whole club is so thrilled I am pleased for the fans as we have had some great support while we have been sharing ground and those supporters deserve a new home.

“It’s been a very long nine years. I am so thrilled for Kevin Borrett and John Lines as they have worked so hard and Mark Butler should be included in that.

“It’s so great that the people of Horsham have supported this club and wanted us to stay - even those that don’t come to football as well.

“They all believed Hop Oast was the right site and I believe it is as well. We had looked at this site even when we were at Queen Street. I am so glad that the council at long last have given us an 80 per cent support. There is no doubt about it, if this had failed, I am not quite sure where we would have gone. It would have been a disaster for Horsham FC and the Holbrook Club and no way did we want to see that destroyed.

“Both clubs can now be very happy, which is something that is well deserved.”
