“To score seven goals, keep a clean sheet, keep our discipline emotionally and positionally and score the magnitude of the goals that we did in the manner that we did, I’m very proud of the boys. It now gives us certain ingredients to go again on Saturday.

“We’ve got to enjoy the result and take pride in it as we deserved it. However, we’ve achieved nothing yet. We’ve got to make sure we stay calm and stay focused because the job isn’t even done.

“It’s important we keep a bit of the buzz but we’ve still got a job to do.”

A bumper crowd of 948 was in attendance and Meeney thanked all of the fans for turning out in number: “I knew they’d come and full credit to them. It’s an absolute buzz for players when you walk out in front of such a buzzing crowd, it really was electric and it really does aid the group.

“I thank the fans for that and I hope that we gave them something to go back home with smiles, however we want them back on Saturday.

“It’s important they get behind the team again and let’s try to go for that final push.”
