Last summer was one Crawley Town fans will not want to remember.

They saw the majority of the promotion-winning squad sold on or leave the club for pastures new. With Scott Lindsey back, most Reds fans would probably think they would not see a repeat.

But after the news striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy had been sold to MK Dons on Wednesday morning, there were fears that a repeat could be on the cards.

Hepburn-Murphy had a brilliant end of the season following Lindsey’s return to helm at the Broadfield Stadium and his goals and performances were one of the main reasons Reds almost avoided relegation.

But now he has followed in the footsteps of Liam Kelly, Laurence Maguire, Jay Williams and Danilo Orsi of Reds play-off winnning players who have moved to Stadium MK.

And fans took to social media to react to the news.

Replying to the club’s post announcing Hepburn-Murphy’s transfer, CTFC Sam said: “Are you actually having a laugh at this point?”

Ryan Buss said: “MK just want to buy us and relocate us shame to see him go.”

Ivan Thac-Lownesout said: “Should’ve done an exchange deal and bought Kelly back.”

Jai Sra said: “Could have made a real statement of intent - not just to the fans but to SL too - by keeping some of the better players and going for promotion. But no, let’s get rid of everyone again, or even better, sell them to sides that will be up there anyway!”

Steven Harris said: “Just absolutely ridiculous isn’t it. this is where it all starts again. I simply don’t understand this at all. It would help seeing the fee so we can understand a bit more.”

Tom JC said: “It's happening again isn't it. All to be replaced by EFL misfits and NL players.”

MK Dons fan Louis (@LouisMKD) replied: “Sorry lads, we also desperately want to stop signing your players at this point too.”
