It's not easy beating Billinghurst

It’s been a bright and promising start for Billingshurst FC in their first three friendlies.

A combative 0-0 draw with Capel blew off the initial set of cobwebs and that was followed by an excellent performance and a 2-0 victory over East Preston.

Billingshurst took the lead in the first half with a Luke Hickling strike and completed it with a Jordan Stallibrass penalty after Sam Gravestock had been brought down.

In Saturday’s heat Billingshurst took on Godalming Town and quickly went 2-0 up when Harry Bowles headed in from a corner followed by a neat finish from Ben Howland.

The lead didn’t last long when a defensive lapse allowed Godalming to get back in via Josh Ogunseye.

Not surprisingly the second half was very scrappy but Hurst hung on to their lead and completed their victory.

Next up for Billingshurst is a game against local rivals Loxwood this Saturday.

It’s a 2pm kick-off at Jubilee Fields.
