John Yems says there is 'a lot more' to come from Crawley after back-to-back wins

The Reds beat play-off rivals Salford 1-0 at home this evening (March 9), four days after winning by the same scoreline at high-flying Tranmere.

Tom Nichols, whose goal was the difference again, impressed Yems but the manager was most pleased with the team performance.

"It was a good game for the neural," he said. "We stuck at it and worked hard.

"Any of the lads we put out will have a go for you. We've had people moaning and groaning but the lads won't let anyone down.

"Tonight was our night. A couple of weeks ago, they [Salford] may have got two or three.

"We had our chances. Nadesan is back to what we know he can be. Tom Nichols is Tom Nichols. I just thought it was a solid team performance."

Yems said his team deserves credit for rediscovering their form after a Covid-19 crisis at the club, compounded by a string of injuries.

He said: "You don't moan, you get on with it. Sometimes it goes for you sometimes it don't. The last couple, we deserved what we got.

"It's difficult to get the same players out every week. You see the size of their squad, we haven't got that.

"You see a bunch of fellas having a right go for us and Crawley and that's all you can ask for."

Crawley have another home game on Saturday, against Mansfield, where they could make it three league consecutive wins for the first time since 2018.

However, Yems doesn't see that as an added incentive.

"Records like that make me laugh," he said. "I don't give a monkeys. We go out and try to win every game.

"We've always had confidence. We're far from being a good side.

"There's a lot more in us yet. We aren't finished.

"If you start sitting back on your laurels, and start thinking you've arrived, that's when you get beat.

"We've got to keep performing and worry about what we do. Let the games commence."
