Lambert stays and appoints Podmore

John Lambert will continue as manager of Sidley United with Jamie Podmore his new assistant.

Lambert has decided to extend his three-year stint in the Gullivers hot seat and has drafted in Podmore to replace trusty lieutenant Wayne Farrier, who stepped down at the end of the season due to work commitments.

Lambert succeeded Andy Laskey as Sidley boss in summer 2009 having spent the first half of the previous campaign in charge of Hastings United, and guided the Blues to promotion from Sussex County Football League Division Two at the first attempt.

Sidley consolidated that promotion with 13th place in Division One the following year before finishing two places and two points better off during the recently concluded season. Farrier has been his right hand man throughout this time.

Lambert will now be working alongside Podmore, who has made a good recovery from the health problems which forced him to step down as joint manager of Division Two side Bexhill United during January.

The two men know each other well having been central defenders at Westfield years ago. Podmore also led Sidley’s second string to the Reserve Section (East) title alongside Lawrence Brand in 2010/11.
