Lambert: We’ll get even better

John Lambert maintains that there is more to come from his in-form Sidley United side.

The Blues have won their first four Sussex County Football League Division One matches - all away from home - without conceding a goal, yet their manager believes there is still room for improvement.

Lambert said: “I love it being no goals against us, but I’m always looking for the perfect game. We’re better than what we’re producing at the moment which is why I think we’ve got a great chance this year.

“We’ve only scored five out of the four games. We’ve had Lewis (Hole) missing, Scott McDonald missing and Steve Morris has been unavailable for a couple of games.

“But once everybody’s up firing, I think we’re going to get even better and if we do, look out. There’s a lot more to come from us. There’s no team in this league that I fear and there’s nobody that I don’t think we can beat.”

One of four teams yet to taste defeat, Sidley are fourth in the table having played fewer matches than anybody else in the top eight.

Lambert went on: “Every single person has played their part so far and they (the players) don’t know how good they can be. We’ve got a good chance this year and I’ve just got to get them to believe that.”

Sidley step away from the league again tomorrow (Saturday) for an FA Vase first round qualifying tie at home to AFC Uckfield. Kevin Bird and Paddy Cody should return for a match which will kick-off at 3pm.
