Late agony for Heath as Town edge a seven goal thriller

A second high scoring game in two days yielded another defeat for Broadbridge Heath as they went down 4-3 away at Seaford Town on Saturday.

In atrocious conditions both sides put on an entertaining match, but following a tough 5-2 defeat at Division 2 leaders Littlehampton on Thursday it was ultimately more disappointment for Heath.

At the break with both teams drawing 0-0 and few goal-scoring chances created, nobody could have predicted the drama that was to unfold.

Heath took the lead through Tim Martin’s smashed effort on 50 minutes, but a mistake by Martyn Flack in the wet led to Ollie Davis levelling.

With just over ten minutes remaining Flack made amends when he nodded Heath back in front from Andy Waddingham’s cross. With conditions worsening Seaford introduced all three subs and it proved pivotal against a tiring Heath defence as goals from Scott Dartnell and Matt Acton put the hosts ahead.

There was still time for Jamal Sultan to force an own goal to put Heath level, but one final twist saw Craig Pooley snatch a late Seaford winner.
