New boss Steve Brown admitted Lewes were slightly fortunate to claim all theree points against Kingstonians as his side inched away from the relegation zone at the Dripping Pan last Saturday.
Speaking after the match, Brown said:”That was a baptism of fire. Two sendings off and I think Kingstonians asked a lot of question of us.
“I think they can consider themselves very unlucky not to go away with a point, if not a win but I don’t care and the players don’t care.
“I asked the players to work their socks off and to be positive and I think they ran out of steam in the second half but they didn’t give up.
“We were fortunate to get the three points but that’s seven points from our last nine. There is a little gap appearing now between us and the bottom four.
“The disappointing thing today are the two reds, the squad is a bit thin and losing Sam Cole and Matt Crabb to suspension is a bit of a blow.”
