Lewes game at Stones is called off... as are the fixtures in the SCFL

Lewes’ game at Wealdstone has been called off due to the heavy rainfall over the whole of the south east this morning.

The Ruislip-based Stones had hoped against hope that a 10am pitch inspection would see the surface fit for play today, but the heavy band of rain that came over the region from dawn - and not due to stop until kick-off - has put paid to those slim hopes.

The county league programme has also been wiped out thanks to the abhorrent weather, with the www.scfl.org.uk website reporting all games bar the Ringmer v East Grinstead Town division 1 game and the Southwick v Broadbridge Heath division 2 clash being called off already. Both the Ringmer and Southwick games were due to have a pitch inspection at 11am this morning.

However, the Ringmer FC official Twitter feed has just announced that their games IS also OFF.

Visit the SCFL website for updates on the Southwick inspection and also for news on the Boxing Day fixtures.
