Eldridge is pleased with how pre-season has gone for the Commoners.

He said: “We’ve been working hard in training on how we want to play and the group have demonstrated this in matches.

“I’ve encouraged the boys to be confident and brave on the ball and play good attacking football.

“As always in pre-season there are changes but we have kept the majority of the group as well as also adding a few, we have a core of experienced players but also young hungry players that give us the energy and play with no fear.”

And Eldridge is excited about what they can do in the Premier Division this season following the FA Cup win on Tuesday night.

He said: “It was a very pleasing start to the season getting a win in the FA Cup.

“We had a good pre-season and this was taken into the first game.

“It’s a long season but as always I’m excited about what we can do, we know every game is different and have to treat teams with respect but it’s important for us to focus on what we can do.

“ We showed different sides to us on Tuesday where we were able to control the game with good possession and passing but also were able to battle and win our duels when needed.

“Defensively we were solid and compact and the boys in the midfield gave us good energy as well as setting up good attacks.

“Up front we created chances and with the pace and power on the wings we were threatening all night.”

Bexhill United kick off their Division 1 campaign with a trip to Wick on Saturday.
