Littlehampton held at home by in-form Loxwood

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club were held to a 1-1 draw at home to in-form Loxwood in County League Division 2 on Tuesday evening.

Loxwood had won their previous four league matches and left the Sportsfield with a point after Golds hit the crossbar three times.

Jason Jarvis was the first to be denied by the woodwork as he headed against the bar and then fired the rebound over.

Danny Hand slotted Littlehampton into the lead after Lee Garnham’s shot was parried on 57 minutes, before Garnham crashed a 25-yarder against the underside of the bar and Alex Kew headed the rebound straight at the keeper.

Loxwood levelled through Matt Dingle with 13 minutes left when he deflected home a shot that was going wide.

Littlehampton pushed for a winner and Hand hit the underside of the bar from the edge of the area, before Loxwood survived a couple of goalmouth scrambles.

Golds boss Mark Bennett said: “We created enough chances to have won the game but Loxwood are not a bad side and have still got aspirations of promotion.”
