The Magpies eased past a relegation-threatened Ringmer side, who were beat 7-1 midweek by Selsey, after parting company with manager Jason Hopkinson hours earlier.

But Loxwood continued to practise good habits in the 3-1 win on Saturday as they work towards a top-six finish while completing a number of in-house targets.

Sorensen said: “For the last six games we had set realistic goals and in-house targets that reflected our ambitions next season.

“There are a number of areas going into next season where we need to improve and we are working on them now.”

All three of the Magpies’ goals on Saturday were smart finishes and they led 2-0 by half-time. Shaun Findlay cut in from the left and fired home on 21 minutes and Joe Holvey finished from just inside the box four minutes before half-time.

Tom Summerfield then netted his first senior goal on 73 minutes.

Ringmer hit a late consolation through James Novis’ penalty after the ball was driven against Matt Hoyte’s arm from close range in the box.

Sorensen added: “All credit to Ringmer who were able to field a side unlike East Preston. They brought a very young side with a couple of older heads and set out to frustrate us.

“We hit the crossbar three times and the post so it could have been a far greater win. The number of opportunities we had could have made the scoreline more comfortable.”

Loxwood: Smith, Hoyte, French, Familton, Holvey, Summerfield, Scally, Cave, Findlay, Wright, Pritchard. Subs: Wood, Swain, Gill, Walshe, Barr.
