AFC Varndeanians II, East Grinstead United and Jarvis Brook all safely progressed without drama into the second round of the Senior Charity Cup.

An Eddie Lyne double helped Premier Division side AFC Varndeanians second team to a comfortably 5­-0 victory over Championship side Cuckfield Town with additional goals from Owen Beesley, Charlie Gamble and Michael Setters.

Daniel Harvey and Daniel Lombardo strikes saw East Grinstead United progress at the expense of Ashurst Wood as another Premier Division side triumphed over their Championship counterparts while in the all­ Premier Division clash Jarvis Brook enjoyed a 6­-1 thrashing over Forest Row.

Balcombe have regained top spot in the Premier Division with a 2­1 home victory against Portslade Athletic while Lindfield have climbed to third following a 3­1 win over Buxted who have now lost two successive matches after being unbeaten in their opening four matches.

Matt Blake scored four times as fifth placed Copthorne thrashed Rotherfield 5­1 and Jack McLean’s double secured Willingdon Athletic’s first win since the opening day with a 2­0 victory over bottom side Cuckfield Rangers.

Championship

Ditchling remain on top of the Championship ahead of AFC Haywards after their goalless encounter in the top of the table clash as both sides surrendered their perfect starts to the season.

Ryan Hill’s four goals propelled Dormansland Rockets into third as they thrashed Polegate Town 8­0 with Adam Dart, David Gellatly, Andy Hancock and Shane Clarabut completing the rout.

AFC Ringmer and Barcombe both recorded 4­1 victories over Phoenix United and Furnace Green Rovers respectively while Framfield & Blackboys secured their first win of the season after narrowly beating Sporting Lindfield in a seven-­goal thriller.
